What We Do

Five pillars. One mission.

Education, Health, Sports, Youth Development and Community Livelihood — the connected pillars that guide every intervention HSDF designs and delivers.

Education
Pillar 01

Education

From Classroom Dropout to Digital Citizen. We use sport and E-Sports as alternative classrooms for learners failed by traditional systems. Through Play 2 Life and PE2ES, we deliver maths & science, digital literacy, data science, cyber security, cloud computing and Microsoft programming via gamified learning. Our goal: school retention, re-entry for dropouts, and certified digital skills that lead to employment or further education. Education is not a prerequisite for our programmes — it is the outcome.

  • Play 2 Life and PE2ES gamified learning pathways
  • Maths, science and digital literacy through sport
  • Data science, cyber security, cloud & Microsoft programming
  • School retention, re-entry and certified digital skills

Health
Pillar 02

Health

Physical Activity as Preventive Medicine. We address physical, mental and social health as interconnected. Through School Holiday Sports Camps and weekly sessions, we teach nutrition, hygiene, substance-abuse prevention and mental health — delivered by coaches trained as social health specialists. We reduce non-communicable disease risk, promote active lifestyles and create safe spaces where young people learn to protect their bodies and minds.

  • School Holiday Sports Camps and weekly sessions
  • Nutrition, hygiene and substance-abuse prevention
  • Mental health awareness and peer support
  • Coaches trained as social health specialists

Sports
Pillar 03

Sports

Play as the Hook, Development as the Outcome. Sport is our methodology, not our end goal. We use structured physical activity and basic sports approaches to teach teamwork, discipline, resilience and fair play. Every drill carries a life lesson. Every match builds social cohesion. We do not create elite athletes; we create healthy, confident young people who understand that the skills on the field transfer to the classroom, workplace and community.

  • Weekly curriculum-aligned PE and basic sports coaching (ECD & Primary)
  • Structured drills that teach teamwork, discipline and resilience
  • Match play that builds social cohesion and fair play
  • Transferable life skills for classroom, workplace and community

Youth Development
Pillar 04

Youth Development

From Passive Beneficiary to Active Changemaker. We place young people at the centre of their own development. Through Girls Leadership Academic Camps, coach training and youth advisory boards, we build agency, leadership and civic participation. Participants graduate as peer mentors, safeguarding ambassadors and community advocates. Youth development means shifting power — from adults making decisions for young people, to young people making decisions with and for their communities.

  • Girls Leadership Academic Camps
  • Coach training and youth advisory boards
  • Peer mentors and safeguarding ambassadors
  • Civic participation and community advocacy

Community Livelihood — Passion for Sports
Pillar 05

Community Livelihood — Passion for Sports

Strengthening the Grassroots Sports Ecosystem. Passion for Sports is our newly developed capacity-building programme for local amateur coaches and community sports club managers. Through practical workshops and sports coaching clinics, we equip grassroots leaders with professional skills to run sustainable clubs, attract funding and deliver quality sporting experiences — transforming communities from within.

  • Event planning, coordination and league/tournament management
  • Club governance, fundraising and proposal writing
  • Athletic development and coaching clinics
  • Sustainable community clubs led by trained local leaders
